Mercure Antwerp City South is very excited and proud to be nominated for the NEW HOTEL AWARDS 2022! Will you vote for us?
Mercure Antwerp City South is ready for a sporty future after their unique renovation You might know the hotel from the past or you might not… But one thing is sure: You won’t recognise it when you step inside!
Interior design honors 100th anniversary Olympic Games Antwerp
On 14 August 1920, the first Olympic Games, after World War 1, took place in Antwerp. The renovated city was then given the honor of celebrating world peace. And finally 1920 became the year in which Belgium won its largest medal harvest to date. 100 years later, this tribute translates into the start of this impressive renovation.
The interior design's focus on sports and the Olympic Games was not chosen randomly. The modern 4 star hotel is not only located in the heart of the business district of Antwerp, but also opposite the Olympic swimming pool Wezenberg and close to various sport clubs, parks and sport locations.
The new impressive lobby is the conceptual translation of the Olympic arena. A bundle of stylized gymnastics rings grace the ceiling as mood lighting and the 5 Olympic rings float above the reception area to greet the guests.
Guests reach their desired floor via the central elevators where the floors of the corridors are strewn with expressive gold rings and lead the guests through a symbolic gold-coloured honorary hedge tot the hotel rooms. In the room, guests experience a sporty carpet, Olympic Rings and a gymnastics box as a luggage rack.
During the New Hotel Awards, the nominated Belgian hotels that (re)opened their doors in 2022 have a chance to win the awards during a spectacular party. It’s an ode to the daredevils that nevertheless took off in the past challenging year.
In early March 2023, their professional jury will present the awards to the winners and afterwards hospitality entrepreneurs, industry specialists and press will meet during an informal network event.
